There are several different medical schools in Queens offering varied medical programs. Due to the continuous increasing demand for the medical field, the demand for medical professionals and technicians has also increased drastically. It is not compulsory to have a diploma or a graduate level degree to enroll in a medical training program. An individual having a high school diploma can enroll in the medical school and become a professional. Below are some of the medical programs which are offered by the medical schools in Queens.

• Medical Assistant (RMA)- As the name suggests it is the certified medical assistants who mainly work in the different medical facilities. It is a short-term medical program of  900 hrs. The eligibility criteria to enroll in the program is just a high school diploma or diploma equivalent to that. It is a perfect combination of practical and theoretical knowledge which include topics- medical office administration, anatomy, physiology & medical terminology, phlebotomy, laboratory procedures and techniques, EKG, and brief knowledge of computer and it's important tools.  
• Phlebotomy Technician- They are the technicians who draw the blood for laboratory processes. It is a very short medical program having a time duration of 36 Hrs. An individual having high school degree can apply for this program.

• Medical Billing- These professionals collect the bills from the patients and enter the whole details of the patients. These professionals deal with the insurance companies as well as patients. People who wish to work in healthcare sector but are interested in office work can apply for the program.
• Patient Care Technician (PCT)- The task and responsibility of the PCT is to take care of patients in the hospitals, healthcare facilities, etc. The duration of the program is almost 72 Hrs.
• EKG technician- Also known as Electrocardiograph Technician. The main working of EKG tech is to help the medical staff in electrocardiogram (EKG) testing for patients. EKG machines are used to test the functions of the heart. An individual having high school diploma or education equivalent to that can enroll in this program.
