You can also choose an approved pharmacy or medical center to complete on-the-job training.
- Get certified - Some states require a certified pharmacy technician. Even in states where certifications are not needed, most of the employers prefer to hire a pharmacy technician who is certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association.
- Become specialized - Some of the pharmacy technicians choose to work solely for a retail drugstore chain and will complete specialized training to work as a community pharmacy technician, general pharmacy technician, or central pharmacy operations technician.
