• Communication Skills - Besides professional and personal qualities, pharmacy technicians must be good enough to provide an effective customer service being able to clearly explain the cost and payment options to customers, maintain patient confidentiality, answer questions and concerns about prescriptions, and able to support an appeal when an insurance company denies coverage.
• Technical Skills - With the advent of technology in the healthcare industry, pharmacy techs are required to include a knowledge of generic drugs and bands. They should be able to maintain pharmacy records and equipment, as well as track the supply of drugs and prescription list for expired drugs. Also, know how to prepare sterile compounds and labels for drug bottles.
